When KOPIKO first launched as a confectionary brand in the UK it initially went to market with some very plain support packaging. The result through the independent retailers was a sell-through of 10-18%. Complete were then brought in to work alongside the brand and give it a different approach with our wealth of retail packaging knowledge and experience.
Packaging is a bit part of marketing that businesses often overlook. Your product is only complete with the packaging that it comes in. If you think about it, it’s the shell that holds your product and is the first thing that people see. In order for your product to make a good impression your packaging also needs to impress. If your packaging is boring, impractical, and low quality, it will only make a negative impression on your customers and even stop them from buying it. Support packaging is also part of this. Even if your product is in a nice box, if it is displayed unattractively, sales will drop. This is a problem that Complete Packaging solved for KOPIKO.
We firstly created a range of samples to showcase a number of different options to KOPIKO. This was an important step in helping our clients understand how they can display their packaging in an attractive and effective manner. After we showed KOPIKO a range of samples using CAD (computer aided design), we decided on the unit shown. This was the best solution to hold the right number of bags of product to encourage sales.
The final design had a small front section to offer free samples to the consumer and a perforated side so the CDU (Counter Display Unit) could be used for both transporting the packs on pallets in bulk and then go straight to the retailers, ready to go on the shelf as shown. This was a practical and creative solution that both showcased the product and made it easy for retailers to display.
The result was astounding - the very next batch of activity had a sell-through in excess of 50% in the first 3 weeks and set the brand off in a new direction. This was a proud moment for Complete Packaging and another success story to add to the list.
The investment in the packaging was more than re-couped due to its success and highlights how important it is to have an innovative, well-designed point of sale packaging and sometimes think about a CDU (counter display unit). This is especially beneficial when looking to promote a brand not as well-known as many more established ones. It is something we will often recommend for new businesses or new products.
